HondO X Lovis
Born 1/26/2022
FOUR BOYS AND ONE GIRL
WEEK ONE
Everyone has settled in, the puppies are gaining a healthy amount of weight, and of course Lovis loves them all to bits.
WEEK TWO
Getting chatty, and a few are starting to take their first little peeks of the world. Fine ridges on all, some dagger like, like Hondos, and some a bit slimmer. All with beautiful crowns.
WEEK THREE
Everyone has opened their little eyes and started walking around, basically within days of each other. It is a bit rough obviously, being so small in such a big world, but Lovis has her watchful eye on them and she still adores being a moma. She will now venture out on our walks, but not too far… I have slowly tried to introduce the concept of drinking/slurping out of a bowl durning the week and can now happily announce that all pups had their very first meal of puppy “mush/gruel”. Lovis enjoyed cleaning up after them and I’m sure she will enjoy a little break from nursing.
WEEK FOUR
Started seeing the beginnings of future zoomies.. Obviously then had to expand their puppy pen to basically our whole living room. Everybody is happy eating mostly puppy mush/gruel. Lovis stays with them during the night (has her own sleeping spot they can’t get to) and then she comes and goes throughout the day as she pleases.
The pups are eating, sleeping and being anarchists on repeat. Moma tried, but in a few weeks they will understand rules and boundaries a little bit better as they mature. Since they are in the living room I can also usually step in if I hear the siblings being a bit rough towards each other.
Looking forward to opening up the screen-door on a nice day and litter box training will be happening. So far everyone knows very well the meaning of a potty pad.
They are now actually behaving like proper little puppies wanting to explore the world in their own unique way. Absolutely irresistible.
WEEK FIVE & WEEK SIX
We finally had a couple of nice days where we could keep the screen door cracked and have the pups go out in their outside enclosure. There is a grassy part and they surely know what to do there already. Bunch of zoomiez in-and-out. Gradually starting to eat hard/harder food and even playing some with their pops and mom outside. Some of the pups are definitely more outgoing and than others and will probably need just a bit more time.
Just stealing hearts left and right at this point, and so wonderful to see their individual personalities coming out.
WEEK SEVEN & EIGHT
Explore the outside world, eat, snuggle, repeat. We are fortunate enough to have a large and safe outside space, along with the spring weather which makes it a wonderful experience for us all.
They all got a clean bill of health visiting the vet on their 8 week birthday. It was a bit scary at first but it did not take long until they were playing around the exam room. Could not ask for more.
